Score

The Stabat Mater by G. B. Pergolesi for soprano, alto and string orchestra is without a doubt one of the best-known works of Western music. This new arrangement offers an opportunity to perform this piece in an intimate setting with a more modest budget, because in this score, the organ serves as the only accompanying instrument.
The new organ part is more than a literal transcription of the original orchestral material. On the one hand, this version is challenging because of all the limitations that come with a socalled ‘piano reduction’ and on the other hand, it grasps all the opportunities that this new medium has to offer.

Arranged Organ part by Jan Devlieger.
