Toshiyuki Bamba: the sky in those days...

I composed "the sky in those days..." on commission for the Bayreuth-Festival-Violinquartett. They premiered the piece in Tokyo and Nagoya (Japan) in April 2013.

I left Japan some 30 years ago and therefore wanted to express through "the sky in those days..." my memory of the sky of my childhood home. From my present perspective I contemplated the little boy who in those days gazed into the sky.

This composition is my prayer for peace. (from the prologue by Toshiyuki Bamba)
